Yeah kind of a long winded title, I know, but I have seen many posts with the same symptoms. then started after last pre release patch'**** Crash to Desktop, but I suppose it's difficult to have a sticky entitled *** 'High end unit, Crash to Black Screen (cannot get to task manager) must manually shut off computer. I have seen many many posts on this specific issue.

This should keep the lower-mid end guys happy as can be, and we'll be happy our systems are able to run smoothly master of Also, go ahead and leave the option default checked, as it isn't a large majority of players having this issue. Put a question mark with information essentially saying, 'if your computer begins to have stability issues, your computer is already performing at maximum performance, and using this optimization will only push it to crash.' obviously you guys can work on the wording for that, as i'm not a paid employee so i'm not going to put too much work into doing your job for you.

So the best solution, in my honest opinion bioware, create a setting directly on the launcher that lets you turn on or off your dx9 'optimization'. Obviously this 'optimization' of theres is very powerful, because if it was minor, it wouldn't be pushing our systems past the point of computer safety, which triggers that wonderful tdr. Perhaps those with the lower end systems, can't even play the game at this point.

If they simply turn off this optimization, the majority of swtor players will be upset with why their fps has shot down from x to y in patch 1.1b. Whereas those with the higher end rigs are much smaller in numbers. A majority of gamers have lower-mid end gaming rigs that benefit from this optimization. Now you're probably wondering, well if the solution is so simple, why don't they just turn off this stupid dx9 optimization? Lets look at this from a business point of view. It is simply unhealthy for your computer to be consistently hard-crashing. In fact, it is most likely ruining our components. Though their dx9 injection is meant to 'optimize' performance, it is actually doing the opposite for us with higher end machines. I'm not sure what they're doing is necessarily legal. Information on why this isn't an easy fix. I am assuming this is for the majority of players that have issues running swtor with their older rigs.

Our systems are already capable of optimizing themselves to push performance to the max, now that swtor is injecting its own optimization into dx9, its causing our pc's to push beyond that max point that we were already performing at. This issue mainly seems to affect high end computers. Whereas if everything is on default / everything is low ingame, i barely ever tdr. If i turn on sli & turn my graphics back onto high, i tdr every 5 minutes. Turning off sli / non-overclocking your system also seems to keep this from happening as often. When your settings are low, swtor is less likely to 'optimize' your gameplay to the point where it triggers a tdr.ģ. Turning down your settings (low) seems to keep this from happening as often. After installing swtor on a brand new os mount, dota 2 (another game built on dx9) has begun to crash similarly.Ģ. The best explanation for this is a post i found a while back -ġ.

The issue is most certainly dx9 corruption. This may seem a bit long winded, but i can safely say i know exactly what is occurring here.
